Absolutely do yourself the favor and go anywhere else. I would rather drive all the way downtown, through rush hour traffic in a blizzard than sit in this rude, unsanitary and unorganized hospital. A poor gentleman was placed back in the waiting room, after being seen and “waiting to get transported to a room”; in a wheelchair and pain; in the middle of the hallway just before seating area & in front of reception and totally forgotten about for 2 hours! Only to be greeted with a sorry excuse of an apology by your staff for forgetting. Uncleanliness of waiting area, all sanitation stations were not filled and after waiting 4.5 hours from the time admission vitals were taken, seeing the lack of support given to many if not all patients coming in and that gentleman being forgotten about and still not being called back— absolutely horrible. Hopefully a change is made before someone ends up really suffering for this hospital.
They almost killed me.. I have been extremely sick for the past 2 weeks with a whole host of miserable symptoms. I went to an urgicare first, and was told that they believe I have a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lungs) & that they didn't have the tools to help me & sent me to the emergency room. So I came to this location specifically because of the low wait time. The receptionist was almost robotic, pure lack of sympathy, empathy or absolutely any human emotion whatsoever. They take me back immediately and then the nightmare began.
They had the most inexperienced, rough employee in that building insert my IV catheter & take my blood. She was so AGGRESSIVE, so slow, and honestly dumb... She was literally climbing over my body while stabbing the IV all over the damn place in my arm, to grab something on the other side of me while taking my blood. Just 2-3 tubes of blood took her about 7 minutes. I am not needle friendly, I normally pass out. This was tremendously traumatizing...And I was in the military for a decade, where they have 18 yr olds blowing your veins on a daily basis. But somehow this woman managed to trump every other terrible experience I've ever had. The IV hurt the ENTIRE TIME I was there. After this disaster, I was sure it couldn't get any worse. I was wrong. The doctor was young, and almost sociopathic.. I kid you not.. I think he was also a robot literally no emotion whatsoever. He couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, because he wouldn't listen to what I was telling him. He must have thought I googled my symptoms or something, because I told him exactly what I believed was wrong with me.. my mother has been a nurse for a little over 45 years now, and she had assumed based off my symptoms that I had a blood clot.. which is exactly what the urgicare nurses & doctors believed as well. But this doctor... He was convinced it was just a simple cold or viral infection. He said that my severely swollen & sore extremities just needed a heat compress & I'd be allllll better. Just because my blood work came back normal, and the 2 X-ray pictures they took (yes, ONLY 2) didn't show anything obvious in my lungs. He basically said he doesn't know what's wrong with me because my tests came back fine, and my BP was normal (thanks to the urgicare giving me juice, crackers, water etc). My hubby & I just stared at each other in disbelief, repeatedly asking him if he's sure there's nothing going on, and what about the swollen extremities..& if he is going to help me with the extreme pain & swelling. He just kept on telling me he doesn't know what's wrong with me & he assumes it's a viral infection... Or the flu. They gave me an anti-inflammatory medication which was supposed to help with my pain but did absolutely nothing. & discharged me immediately after. He wasn't even going to prescribe me any medication. I had to ask a more experienced nurse if she can recommend a medication to take at home. She was the ONLY kind soul, and most experienced person in that building! She had to go tell the doc to prescribe me some meds!!! The only part of the experience that wasn't bad, was when this nurse removed the IV, I didn't even know she took it out. She was so gentle!
So long story short, I went home that night in extreme pain, honestly worse off than when I got there. I didn't get any sleep that night, my symptoms continued to get worse.
The next morning, I was back to an 82/51 BP and my swollen limbs had doubled in size.
Here I am a few hours later at the Cleveland Clinic ER, where they found.. A BLOOD CLOT IN MY MF LUNGS! They said I was about a few hours away from going into a coma. I could have had a stroke by now, I could have died. I will NEVER GO TO METRO AGAIN! I almost forgot, he refused to give me IV fluids even though he said I was dehydrated.. claims the hurricane caused a supply issue. Dr. Kevin Caja you need to get over your ego & listen to your patients, we are there for your expertise after all!
Absolutely horrible patient experience. We received a call an hour before our appointment and were told to rush in as fast as possible. We arrived in less than 20 minutes. We have now been sitting for over 2 hours waiting to be seen. We are more than an hour past the appointment time and I am about to go remind the folks at the nurses station that we are here.
The linens aren't even clean, there is used cotton and tape on the blanket given to my husband, he hasn't had an IV so I know it isn't his.
Only come here if you want to be treated by people that see you just as a number and don't care about you as an actual human.
I have a pretty good team of Doctors and Nurses and Specialists and they all do there best to keep me as healthy as they can. They are very friendly and they truly care about their patients well being. I love the my chart tool that keeps track of all of your appts, test results and you can even send a message to your doctor and or nurse and they respond back rather quickly. I personally can't think of anything negative to say about the metro health system. Each individual has a specific job to do and they do it above and beyond the call of duty. Thank You to everyone working at the metro Health system and keep up the great work.
The nurse infiltrated my iv and didn’t even notice , proceeded to keep putting medicine in after I stated something wasn’t right, I legit just left the emergency room, I never experienced such un welcoming behavior , and then reading my after care summary the doctor lied on it …
