The Doctors Center – University

As an out of town visitor seeking medical care , this facility could not have made a worst impression. It was obvious from the glare and tone on the receptionist face that I was not welcomed here. Perhaps if I was Hispanic, I would not have been treated so rudely. The Latina lady who came in after me was greeted warmly & told she could see the doctor and I was told they had no more appointments for the day. So if you’re Caucasian with good medical insurance, I definitely wouldn’t waste your time on this place. I hope the receptionist receives some kind of training on greeting ALL patients with kindness and care.

My husband has been trying to get a Cpap machine for his sleep apnea since October of 2024 and this office is starting to seem incapable of sending appropriate documentation. It’s January 2025 and they still haven’t been able to provide all of the required paperwork to the equipment company and then every time he tries to call to communicate an issue he’s met with “we don’t have that/ we already did that/ that’s not in your chart” is your email broken? Is your fax machine broken? Why are the equipment companies unable to get ahold of you and why do I feel like the only way to get this taken care of it to type an upset google review after struggling for 3 months to get paperwork sent? The people in the office are so kind until we have to call about a problem and then they talk to him like he’s stupid when all he needs is paperwork faxed over and no one is paying enough attention to do it correctly. We already had to physically walk into the office to get the paperwork when they sent stuff to a company that wasn’t covered by his insurance and it got restarted by insurance and they have even emailed you directly with no success.

The Doctor's are excellent.They do listen and always do the best counseling to advice me and improve my health. But the front desk it's the most unprofessional people, I have to be honest, because I do want to continue to seeing my Doctors, I been a patient for years,but front desk need to improve on how they speak to the patients and not needing to be so agresive,yo hablo español esa joven de la oficina es muy agresiva y prepotente,los doctores son excellentes ,un abrazo y que mejoren a esa joven de la oficina, mal educada y brabucona,asi no mas explico,ok un abrazo 🤗

There is nothing that can be done about having professionally kind and empathetic doctors, if they have an assistant who mistreats and humiliates patients in front of other coworkers and while the doctors are attending consultations, I cannot understand how they allow people like that to damage the image of a place where I was treated for more than 2 years and where I was recommended to so many family members and friends, how sad. And more than thanking me for my opinion and that of others, if they really want to improve they should take action. They should not change or let the doctors go, they should make changes with the reception staff. Horrible! Imagine being mistreated by the assistant, for God's sake, while the professional is so sweet to you. That is out of control. I do not plan to return.

Dr. Okie and the nurses here are great! They are so understanding and helpful. Dr. Okie has seen me without an appointment because of the crucial pain I was in. He always takes the time to listen to me and he has great bedside manner. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen a doctor that actually cares to listen like he does. I also had to take my toddler with me and they were so accommodating and so sweet to him, it made me love the employees there even more!! Thank you for caring for me and treating me like a human, not just a number or a paycheck.
