We are deeply disappointed with our experience in the NICU at Dallas Children’s hospital. We were here for 2.5 weeks but during our baby’s stay we encountered several troubling issues that I felt sharing. As parents, we place an immense amount of trust in the hands of nurses, often seeing them as the next best thing to angels caring for our children. We thought that we are able to sleep for at least an hour at home just because of nicu nurses but Unfortunately, that trust was shattered when we experienced unprofessional and discriminatory behavior from some of the staff.First, one of the nurse keeps spilling the breast milk and was not even sorry for spilling it. This happened for couple of times and inspite of talking to her, she didn’t care and caused unnecessary stress and concern for us and my baby.Additionally, we observed behavior from some of the nicu staff members that we felt was racially biased, which made us uncomfortable and upset. It is clearly evident that the nurses were spending more time with American parents and doesn’t even show interest to see us even when we requested to have a look at our baby when he was throwing up. My wife had a c-section and she was holding our baby while feeding and asked the nurse in charge to hold our baby after feeding so that my wife can stand up but the nurse insisted not to help and said that we need to take care of our baby without any support.I felt that it is incredibly important for all patients, especially infants, to be treated with care, respect and without discrimination. Also, my baby had a reflux and was throwing up after feeding. We saw this multiple times in the camera and raised our concerns about this by calling them but they used to turn off the camera when we called them. Watching my newborn struggle without the appropriate response from the medical team left us feeling helpless and ignored.I understand that NICU care is demanding but the lack of communication, unprofessional behavior, and failure to provide adequate care has been deeply troubling. I hope this feedback will lead to improvements in both staff training and overall care for families who entrust their most loved ones .

My daughter and I have spent a little over a month here. Including her birthday. The ENTIRE staff was amazing. Our case worker Alyssa fought for my daughters rights like she was her own child. The nurses on D floor have her so spoiled and were super nice to her. They've let me cry to them. They've held me while I screamed. For two years we've chased a diagnosis and thanks to their wonderful radiology, neuro and peds staff we got it. Super super super shout-out to Jayla. I really don't think I could've made it through that first week without you. Alyssa she wouldn't be getting the PT she needs so so bad without you. Dr Shaw in Neuro we still wouldn't know what's wrong with her without you. Dr Shareef in Neuro we wouldn't fully understand MS without you. Dr Quan in nephrology Libby thinks you're the BEST!

Took my two month old here. The waiting room was dirty the room it self had trash cans filled to the brim. I did not have a doctor speak to me about my child.. a nurse came in handed me discharge papers to sign without any explanation of what was wrong with my son. I had to ask them what was wrong with him. The professionalism of this place is sad. Do better

Legitimately is the worst parking situation I’ve ever seen in the hospital.Staff doesn’t even know directions around the hospital and I had to walk over 20 minutes across campus to get to where needed to be because signage and parking are a nightmare

Don’t come here, I have an autistic son and he had a swollen eye. Every other urgent care or ER I’ve been to never forced my son to do anything if he doesn’t want to but THIS hospital! I also got looks from nurses when I had to tell them twice that he was autistic. As if it didn’t matter, They wouldn’t let him just be. They kept saying they have to do this and they have to do that. This is why my son doesn’t like doctor offices, it’s horrible! Understand about Autism!
