Totally disgusted with this home. My mom has been there well over 10 plus years. The lack of communication among other things has got me furious. Mom is not able to make her own decisions and my POA status is NOT being honored. I have had to reach out to the Patient Ombudsman for action. It is still in the works but long story short thank fully she will be moving and we won't have to deal with it much longer.
My sister is currently a resident at Berkshire. While the building is in some need of upgrades, I cannot complain about her level of care. Because I live in another province, I'm only able to visit once a year. I receive calls regarding her care, behavior, recommendations, and most importantly, my opinion for her care. I can call any time and have my questions answered in an indepth, and polite manner. She responds well to the staff. The only reason for a 4 star, instead of 5, is the cell phone use by the staff. Certainly not all staff, but a few I had observed during a visit. Please put your phones away when family approach you for questions. Overall, great job!
My mom has been in here for 7 weeks now and is so happy with everyone. I personally have seen how wonderful they are. Not just with my mom but other clients that are there as well. They call everyone by their name, happily dance with them and try to make them as comfortable as possible. They have taken time to call me so I can talk to my mom, that meant a lot to my mom and me. They even called me to let me know how my mom is doing. Thank you to all the staff working here at Berkshire for all the great services you do for my mom and also for making me feel comfortable having my mom In your Care Centre
My mom has been at Berkshire for just over 1 year now and I am thankful to the staff who take such good care of of her. Our whole families quality of life is much better since we don't have to worry about my mom.
My mom seems happy and not angry anymore.

From a perspective from the inside looking out, this is someone's home, this is a place where someone can get help with their care and etc. Sure, we always aim for the best and the best choice is to see it for yourself. Take a tour and take a real close look at it. Be your own judge and no one will judge you for giving this (home or other homes) a chance. This is a review. It's not outdated but it's heritage. It's an old home. Been around for over 40 years and still standing. Until changes are made, this home stays and is there for those that has to stay here for care. Met many wonderful people here and staff who deserves a thank you for your time and attention!
