I can't express enough how disappointed I am with Newport. This place is nothing like what they claim to be. First of all, the food is absolutely horrendous. Every meal feels like punishment, and it's clear that no effort goes into making it even remotely edible. You'd think that a program that focuses on mental health would at least get that part right, but apparently not.The staff? Don’t even get me started. They're cold, unfriendly, and seem more interested in enforcing ridiculous rules than actually helping the kids. Instead of offering support or guidance, they act like you're just another problem to deal with. It's hard enough dealing with mental health challenges, but having staff who treat you like a burden only makes it worse. The rules are insanely harsh and overly strict. It’s as if they’re more focused on controlling every move you make than actually helping you heal. There’s no room for personal growth or relaxation — just constant micromanaging that creates unnecessary stress and anxiety. This environment does nothing to promote mental wellness; if anything, it makes it harder to focus on the actual work of healing.Overall, Newport feels like a place built on rules, not empathy. If you or someone you care about is looking for support and understanding, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This is not the place to get better.

If your child has any kind of complex medical needs do NOT SEND THEM HERE. They dumped my daughter in an ER with no clothes in 25 degree weather after having seizures because they didn't give her the correct dosage or just didn't give her those meds at all. We live 1300 miles away and gave us no time at all to come get her. Nursing staff is rude and untrained, please for the sake of your childs well-being do not go here.

Newport Academy NOT FOR ADOPTIVE FAMILIESAshley S our therapist was late to every therapy session except the two she forgot completely.-My child PIERCED her NOSE, EARS and EYEBRPW AT NEWPORT. -She STOLE A POCKETKNIFE FROM A COUNSELOR. Why did a counselor have a pocket knife when working with kids? Excellent question. -WHEN WE LEFT EVERYTHING WAS WORSE in our family.we transferred our child somewhere she is finally getting help. The counselors at the new residential facility are truly engaged in the welfare of their clients, and it shows - my child is getting better!I consider Newport my 2nd worst decision as a parent.Newport all but destroyed my relationship with my child.Newport almost cost me my family. We were there summer 2024 Monarch podPS - no psychiatrist stayed more than a few weeks. No Dorm Supervisor made it more than a week or two Therapists were immensely overbooked disaster if you struggle with adoption issues.

Newport Academy (CT campus) saved my daughter’s life. She entered with severe anxiety and depression. NA gave her a reset in life while teaching her skills to manage stress and anxiety. Newport is a beautiful, loving community with tried and true techniques to work with teens facing challenges in the world today. Our daughter was in several different facilities and NA was the best fit for us and where we found true results that have launched her into adulthood.

I have learned a lot in Newport Academy over the past 4 months and have become very attached to it. I always look forward to being there because of the amazing people I interact with daily. The job is professional, teaching me how to overcome challenges and become a better leader at home. I have gained more experience in addition to my previous role as a care coordinator. This job has shown me how to spread love, and I feel NewPort is like a second home to me.
