6 months agoMy mother in law resides here. Lots of activities to keep her busy. Clean. Some difficulty getting staff to follow requirements set up during personal care meeting. For the most part we are happy with mom's care.

10 months agoA final thank you to the staff at Monterey, Over the years of taking care of our Grandma, we have sincerely appreciated the grace, dignity, and love we have witnessed you all showing your residents! This is echoed by all that have visited her over the years! You continue to show my family grace as we sadly move out grandmas belongings. We appreciate you beyond words, you continue to do everything you can to accommodate! So sadly we’d like to say for the last time, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO!!! Sincerely, Lorraine’s Family ❤️

7 years agoThe staff at Monterey Seniors Village (in the SL4D ward) are unaware of dignity principles and empathy as it pertains to the daily lives of the residents. Merely monitoring or keeping residents "safe" seems to be the only focus here. The staff is highly disorganized and frankly doesn't understand basic guidelines for resident's comfort and quality of life. My father has been made to practically beg for a cup of coffee (this is his home!!!) because staff keep it looked up and are reluctant to make more if the pot is emptied during meal time. When my father's lock on his room stuck, a nurse came by and tried her key, repeatedly. When on the 9th time it stuck and wouldn't open (as I had mentioned to her initially), she shrugged and said, "It's alright, we can get in MOST of the time." Recently, a nurse came by and interrupted a conversation during a visit with my dad to tell him he needed to have a shower. He informed her politely that he would have one later, as he was visiting with me at the moment. She condescendingly disagreed with him and insisted that he go with her right then because she wouldn't have time to help him later. He again, politely denied her and she looked to me for support which caused my father to become upset and remind her that he's not a child. I firmly asked her to leave us alone to continue our visit and reminded her of my father's wishes. (My father has moderate memory issues but it not incapacitated.) These are only 3 examples of negative and demeaning experiences I've witnessed and if it was up to me, my father would be out of there. Your loved ones deserve basic respect and more stimulation than being parked in front of a TV all day in a common area or "let out" like dogs into the concrete walled court yard that they call a garden because they put out some planters in the summer. Oh, and have an issue here????? We're currently going into week 3 of waiting for someone to call us back.
