I don’t think there are enough words of affirmation to describe this place. I was referred by a local mom when I realized that my daughters latch wasn’t as great since leaving the hospital a few days ago. I was able to make an appointment fairly quickly and be seen within the same week. Upon arrival, I was given a Good Faith estimate that told me my cost upfront so there were no surprises. The appointment was a breeze. Beth was able to show me the proper way to feed my daughter and make it so breastfeeding wasn’t as painful. She weighed my daughter prior to the appointment and after to see how much milk she was getting and in the 30 minute session she took in 2oz! Nice to see that rather than guessing!
Also wanted to note that this place can help you with more than BFing tips. Beth informed me of the things my insurance covered, that I was unaware of (such as a rental pump and kit), and that they are able to do flange fitting to insure that you’re getting the max results from your pumping sessions!
I am SO GLAD that I made an appointment and am looking forward to visiting the milk bar once again!
I only share my review because I have never had requested follow-up from Breastfeed Atlanta. At 5 months I took him to the Marietta location to assess his latch when I was concerned about his weight gain. The lactation consultant was very personable but hardly assessed his latch and told me everything seemed great based on his 2 ounce weighted feeding. At his 6 month appointment with his pediatrician she was very concerned about his weight having significantly dropped percentile and we had to supplement with formula to bring weight back up. Fast forward to age 10 months and my son has been assessed with oral dysfunction that we are now correcting. It is disheartening that the poor assessment contributed to a downturn in his breastfeeding journey and we are now learning that there were actual issues that should have been addressed earlier. Perhaps this group is good for helping to establish breastfeeding but for assessing mother’s supply and older baby’s feeding it was not a good experience for me.
Incredibly helpful and informative. Every single mom needs to go from the get go of having a baby - even if you think you won’t breastfeed, you need to be educated and trained to be sure it’s not for you ! Bc moms are not told enough or trained well without lactation consultation. For example, I was amazed at how wrong I was pumping and how poorly fitted my flanges were! It was covered by my insurance and Shannon was so warm and sweet with me and my baby. Highly recommend this business!
I cannot speak highly enough of Breastfeed Atlanta. Shannon has been one of my most important allies from the first time we took a prenatal class with her to the many sessions we’ve done. She is empathetic, knowledgeable and non judgmental. She has been so welcoming of my lgbt family and she loves my baby. Breastfeeding is hard but with Shannon on my team I was able to find a path that worked for me. I recommend BFA to everyone who will listen. Now let’s talk about Beth, who offers mental health check ins. This model of care and her offerings are absolutely incredible. Everyone who is postpartum deserves care like this. She checks on your mental health, listens and has great support to offer and then connects you with whatever resources you need. You can just tell she cares deeply about her clients and she is like a godsend in a vulnerable time. Breastfeed Atlanta my family is grateful for you!!!
The best lactation guidance and care I’ve ever received. From the ease and user friendly appt booking, the genuine care and more- I really enjoyed this experience. What I enjoyed most was the knowledge and wisdom given that social media can’t always deliver specific to your situation. Also, they accept MANY insurances. Than you Breastfeed Atlanta! I now feel so confident in my breastfeeding journey!
