I have been shocked at how this unit handles families in crisis. To tell someone who has agoraphobia that they must come in to their office for an evaluation, because they no longer go into homes, is absurd. The man barely leaves his room and doesn’t leave the house or go in the yard and yet you expect him to come to your office to receive an evaluation and in-home care? Abominable.

I tried to get my teenage autistic son help here a year ago after he was admitted to the hospital. After countless months of paperwork and failures, nobody there was able to get him any help that he needed. He is 18 now and wants to seek help and I’m trying to facilitate that. Even after several calls, trying to explain my disabled sons specific needs they just dismissed me and told me to have him call and do an intake because he’s an adult. For the last 10 years, I’ve tried everything to help my son, every agency and have failed. it’s a shame that here in Mercer County when you are low income, there is no way to advocate for your child. I’m lost, my son is lost, and i’m just counting down the days till somebody blames or judges me or my son even though we’re trying as hard as we can every day

In 2014 I called them around 3:30 am after I found my son trying to hang himself ...they told me to keep watch over him and send him to school the next morning, then enlist help from the guidance counselor to have him 302'd...so I slept on the floor next to his bed...and did what they said. Got him to the hospital but Behavioral Health Commission said nothing was wrong and sent him home. I called the guy that was in charge of the case mad for doing nothing. My son committed suicide with a gun to his head two years later...June 16, 2016. Thanks for nothing.

They simply feed the industry. The default is to require treatment while providing little support for their position. Appeal decision lacks any response to one's rebuttal or further clarification on the determination.

They dont know what they are doing. Will make things worse not better. They should be shut down. The ladies at the front desk are alright and thats it.
