3 months agoI had LASIK surgery with Dr. Cavanaugh, and it was truly amazing! The procedure was quick and surprisingly easy—I could see clearly right away and had zero pain or discomfort afterward. Dr. Cavanaugh and the whole team are exceptional! I highly recommend them to anyone considering any kind of eye care.

a month agoIf I could give negatives stars, I would. If you value your eye sight then avoid this practice. I had a months long wait to get in for the first appointment. I assumed that was because they we very good and many people wanted to avail themselves of their services. They were recommended to me. My first visit with them was a warning sign that I should have heeded. In measuring my eye sight, they had great difficulty in getting a reading. I was very uncomfortable and asked that they do it again. They did with supposedly a more experienced staff member. The second reading was supposedly better than the first. Dr. Cavanaugh really push hard the Vivity lenses (these are premium lenses with a premium price.). In theory a great lens but not so much in actual results. He proposed correcting one eye (my right eye) for distance and then follow up with my second eye for reading. Following surgery on my first eye, I was expecting better results. I tested out at only about 20/50. On a follow up visit, I complained about my vision. His response was two-fold. First is that eve at 20/50 my vision was much better than before. (that was true but not the 20/20 that he indicated before surgery.) and second he blamed it on my diabetic retinopathy (Which I have had for some time but has been treated and under control. He never indicated that the retinopathy would be a problem.). There was no way that I was going to let him touch my second eye. I am from Topeka and found a local eye specialist. I got a second opinion from him. He said that there is no way he would have recommended the Vivity lenses for me. He also said there was no reason that I should not be able to get 20/20 vision in my left eye. I had surgery on my left eye and guess what. Today I am seeing 20/20 in my left eye. Amazing what a skilled and competent doctor can do. I did ask him about removing my right lens and replacing it. He did not recommend it since there was no guarantee with the additional time that had passed since my first surgery that the removal and new implant would be successful. If you are contemplating cataract surgery avoid this place if you value your vision.

3 months agoHad a laser cornea procedure done yesterday. Not only was this painless, I have had zero side effects and no need for pain meds..Going to Wichita would have saved hours of traveling but I wouldn't change it for the world. Dr. Cavanaugh is amazing and I'm going to continue to go to him for all of my cornea needs.

3 months agoI assume the quality of their work is better than their scheduling. I just returned with my partner from a 1 PM eye appointment. We arrive 15 minutes early 1245 as requested and she was not seen until 315! This is inexcusable. Other medical practices – – KU make it a point to not waste your time because they value your time and their expertise and getting you in to meet your needs. If I have to choose cataract surgery, I will not be using Kavanaugh a word to the wise, plan on a picnic lunch if you go there.

3 years agoThe staff at Cavanaugh eye care is very friendly and professional, and Doctor Cavanaugh is an incredible Doctor, who also has a fantastic personality. They are very thorough and really care about their patients. I’m also glad that they come to Topeka a couple times each month. Sincerely, Joseph
