I didn't know that our group were the pilot group after SCTC had offered treatment for free immediately before while they worked out the "kinks".The staff was militant. They shared private exchanges that occurred outside of the treatment centre and conflict that occurred outside of the sharing rooms. We realized quickly that "Big Brother" was watching. I am not sure if the non counseling staff were obliged to report conflict. Most of it involved the quality and lack of food. The main counsellor Laura is very new to her profession and not experienced to deal with women who have experienced this degree of trauma.Going around the room with Spiritual Tarots cards made up the everyday's group sharing. Odd.In one on one sessions she would review here-say that she thought was concerning even though she wasn't witness to it. If you disagreed with her interpretation of events then the conversation ended. And you were shamed back to your room. Again perhaps this line of therapy is not Laura's calling.I believe a more experienced trauma informed clinical psychologist (and staff) should be the only type of professional leading this type of tenuous female group. Many of us were diagnosed with ADHD via a zoom with a psychiatrist by the name of Dr. Stewart whom after a 10 minute conversation was putting women on high doses of adderall (highly addictive methamphetamin.)There was absolutely no follow up. But 30,000 dollars for the 30 days when they weren't ready to receive us caused so much damage. Both financially and emotionally. This and not having top tier professionals that this place should warrant at this price tag.I've been convinced to launch a class action suit against the incompetence I experienced SCTC and now dealing with the mistrust I have of these types of rehab facilities that are in it to make money not save lives.

I attened SCHC in the spring of 2023 . This was is hands down a pivotal expierance in my life . The gifts of recovery have been many for all in my life since returning from SCHC . I never thought i would be able to say this .... whatever it took to get me to SCHC was and is worth it . The program at SCHC is unlike anything i have ever expieranced ... the level of support beyond SCHC doors when i got back home .... has helped tremendously in transitioning back to day to day life . The attetion to detail in addressing ones needs at SCHC just goes above and beyond and the variety of therapies that are readily available at your fingertips at SCHC is remarkable and life changing .Once i settled in at SCHC ... the feeling i got was i finally arrived home and everyone was happy to have me and just there to help get me on my feet so i could begin to do the most important work of my life ... caring for myself . The vibe at SCHC is so warm and welcoming ... to be honest by the end of my stay i did not Want to leave ...for myself it was hard to leave . I look forward to returning one day . The level of care from every staff member was something i had never felt before in my life , not Only that but the patients as well so warm and welcoming .This is the best gift you could ever give yourself or someone else . If you are ready to make change and do not know where to start . SCHC can show you the path .... for me i was pretty much crawling when i got there by the time i left i was ready to start walking a path of recovery. SCHC has an approach that was so simple and inviting it made anything seem possible and showed me everyone has something to offer this world and everybody is worth it . Never give up , its never to late , no matter how Many ways you have tried , no matter how many times you have tried ... If your willing and teady to make change ... SCHC could be the begining of the life that has been waiting for you !

“ 30 Days and a Lifetime of Change” I arrived with 15 years of trauma related acute anxiety and depression and departed with virtually non-registering comorbidities. I will always struggle but thanks to SCHC’s various programs I have additional valuable tools to rely on. I learned so so much. Thank you to the entire staff for their sensitive, compassionate and empathic support. While all of the programs content and delivery were second to none, the one that I miss most is “small group”. Thank you so much Laura. Thank you also to Jeremy for lifting me up when I was down, I appreciate you.

I am writing this review as a family member of a loved who entered treatment at Sunshine Coast in December 2022. This review does not reflect the patients experience while there. We picked Sunshine as they advertised a holistic all-encompassing treatment strategy, including: family support, medical oversight and tests, and that they were not a typical 12 step (faith based) program. When l reached out to obtain the supports they offered, I found it very difficult to reach anyone for support and questions. When we were talking with admissions they told me the first thing that would be done upon admission would be a full medical work up, and would see the Dr with in hours of being admitted. That was not case, I had call multiple times and then was directed to leave a voicemail. When I did asking when he would see a Dr. as he was almost on day 3… Ten minutes after leaving a message, a Dr came to see him… We also did not receive any updates from anyone at the facility, not one outreach of communication until a few days prior to discharge - which came in the form of an email with PDFs and a video to watch. It would have been nice to have the contacts from the start to build rapport with, which is what was suggested when we first enquired about the facility when we researched options. We then received emails with contacts of his family liaison worker (Erika) who to date, after leaving four detailed messages, I STILL have not received a call back.We receive email contact from his counsellor same days as liaison email very close to discharge. The email had videos for family and links to join a group. This facility does promote the individual in treatment to discuss anything happening in treatment with family opposed to staff talking in their behalf, and I understand that and agree. However they still state they offer family support we received none, my family had no time to even enrol in a group class as he was so close to discharge when we received email contact and information. For almost $1000 per night we feel let down that we did not receive support as offered. I couldn’t even get the family liaison worker to call me back… We are very disappointed with the lack of support. He came home and we had no support or guidance to help him succeed in his journey of sobriety. Part of the reason we selected this facility was because the family member in treatment, lives in a multi-generational household which certain members needed assistance to learn how they could adjust their behaviours to better set him up for success upon return to the family home.Sunshine Coast is very responsive and helpful up to the point of check in (and cheque cashing). They sell a very expensive bill of goods to which they do not deliver. This family member relapsed 9 days post treatment - mainly due to not having the tools to deal with the family interactions we were concerned about when we tried to elicit a return call to take advantage of the family supports they claim to offer.

Sunshine Coast Health Centre provided a transformative experience for me. The range of therapeutic activities and tailored approaches created a nurturing environment that fostered positive change. Despite a minor medication issue, I felt well-supported by the staff, who showed professionalism and compassion. I achieved my treatment goals through Hakomi, hypnotherapy, somatics, and counseling. Dr. Howard and Nurse Terry stood out in their exceptional care. Millie, the caretaker, also made a significant impact with her bubbly persona and kind, loving demeanour. The facility was clean and comfortable. Although communication with/between nursing staff could improve, I am truly grateful for the remarkable journey that has filled me with renewed hope and resilience.
