My mother was at the Reaction Care Centre on Church St. 3rd floor (Trillium Health Centre). She was discharged from Credit Valley and waiting for Long Term Care.
We were very pleased with the care that my mother received from the nursing staff and especially from the Charge Nurses (Ruby and Reena). The nurse practitioner, Mei was excellent as was the Social Worker, Amy.
Staff was good at following suggestions to provide care for my mother to make things easier for them and for my mom. They quickly learned how to manage my mother and her habits and preferences. They also responded quickly and well to enquiries.
Food was very good and facility was very clean.
We appreciated the common room at the end of the hallway which is where my mother often ate.
In many ways, I wish that we were still at the Reactivation Care Centre - my 92 year old mother was content, relaxed and happy there. (Her experience at LTC has not been nearly as positive but we are working on it.)
Downside - Activities were very limited and yes there were many patients who spent the day sitting at the nursing station.
I will add that we were there almost every day to visit and help.
A big shout out of thanks to everyone on 3B - Trillium floor. Well done.
I'd like to give this place four stars, but my parent hasn't been there that long. It does have a bit of a weird vibe, kinda reminds me of the Shining. The patients roam the halls a bit, as they're probably bored out of their minds. They have a TV and a phone for each patient, which is more than they had in the hospital. The staff have been pleasant and helpful. They did ask me to bring toothpaste, a toothbrush, deodorant, mouthwash and soap for my parent. This surprised me a little, as this was never an issue in the hospital. The nurse explained that they had basic soap, but fancy soap would need to be provided. OK, but my parent has MUCH bigger issues than deodorant and wouldn't know the difference. I did check the drawer today and they had mouthwash and some kind of personal hygiene soap.My parent is not eating and no one is helping, but I understand that they don't have the staff for that. The hospital asked about help with eating, but I know they never actually did assist with eating. I attempted to feed my parent when I was there today, but they had no interest. This is just part of the disease. The food seemed better in the hospital though, but I haven't seen a dinner yet. This place is not the Ritz, so if you're expecting personalized care for your loved one, you won't get it here. If you want personalized care, you should keep them home and pay for private care. I did look into part-time private care, but my parent got worse and now requires 24/7 care.I'm OK with the care my parent is receiving at RCC. Could it be better, yes, but we simply don't have the resources or the funds.
bad experience with security guard Sarah, issue being the parking for out -patients With a Pass . she was stating that i must pay, but offered no empathy or assistance whatsoever. the spots that are covered by the pass were full now for a 3 rd time, 5 dollars each time adds up.security Should be monitoring who exactly is in those designated spots, I guarantee that not all cars should be there (non-pass holders trying to save $$$)also i was told that the paid parking gate can be opened by security if the case happens again, At no charge to me. simply did not happen
There’s a blonde female security guard who is rude, lacks compassion and is very dismissive when talking to people. I asked her for directions and it seemed as though I was bothering her. There’s already a couple reviews about her I don’t understand how she is still working there. I will be contacting regal security about this woman for sure. And it sure doesn’t help that she smells very very bad!!!!
Please believe all the poor reviews about this place. Something is in the air because all the women that work here have poor attitudes in addition to being lazy and doing absolutely nothing. One specific girl named Casey-Ann who works on the 6th floor of the RCC has not one professional bone in her body, speaks to patients in her Jamaican accent and walks around like she owns the place. She had also complained to another nurse that I didn’t sign in when I went to visit which caused that nurse to walk up to me and also be rude. They all behave the same and reinforce the same disgusting attitude. They leave your loved ones sitting in their rooms and only provide them with food and medication. They only clean them when people are around, but otherwise leave them sitting unclean all day. Most of them are not nurses but PSWs and ASWs who do a crash course to learn about health care? Which is why they act so poorly.Get your loved ones out of there fast! It’s Mickey Mouse play house for them.
